Many Flags, One Humanity

Solidarity at Otay Mesa

What an unforgettable day of solidarity and action. Our collective vision to bring the reality of the Otay Mesa Detention Center directly into the hearts and living rooms of San Diego County was fully realized.

Together, we raised funds to support the hostages, held together by the steady heartbeat of the drums and the songs of the Rezisters — made possible by ACTIVATE! San Diego, Change Begins With ME, and every volunteer who showed up.

Why We Show Up

The First Amendment Is a Responsibility

In East County, we are building a community that speaks truth to power with courage, dignity, and purpose.

Peaceful & Principled

Every action we take is grounded in non-violence and mutual respect. Our message is amplified, not diminished, when we stand with integrity.

Rooted in East County

We are your neighbors in El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee, Lemon Grove, and throughout East San Diego County. This is where change starts.

Consistent Presence

Change happens through sustained attention. We show up week after week so elected officials know we’re here and paying attention.

Policy, Not Politics

Why We Protest

Many of our members are protesting specific policies and conduct — including practices carried out by agencies like ICE, DHS, and CBP — that have separated families, denied due process, and made our neighbors afraid to go to work, to school, or to the doctor.

We protest actions and policies, not people. Our aim is accountability for how power is used in our communities, and dignity for everyone living in them.

Due Process for Everyone

Every person deserves a fair hearing under the law. We speak up when that principle is ignored, regardless of who is affected.

Accountability for Agencies

When enforcement practices cross the line from public safety into fear and harm, we document it, name it, and demand better.

Visibility Creates Pressure

Elected officials and agencies respond to public attention. Showing up, in numbers, keeps these issues from being ignored.

One Community

We Stand With Our Neighbors

We support all human beings in our communities — regardless of immigration status, faith, race, gender identity, or where they started out. Dignity isn’t conditional, and neither is our solidarity.

When a neighbor is targeted, we show up for them. When a family is afraid, we stand between them and that fear. We take to the streets not for spectacle, but to bring visibility to causes that too often go unseen — because attention is often the first step toward change.

“Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
