Our Story
How We Started
ACTIVATE! San Diego began with a small circle of like-minded neighbors, bound by one simple belief: everyone deserves a fair chance in this country. We don’t see race, religion, background, or party — we see neighbors.
That small circle has grown into a massive grassroots movement reaching across San Diego County. Our mission has never changed, even as our numbers have: grow the movement, and become one voice for democracy in this country. We are a pro-humanity movement rooted in human rights and civil rights for everyone.

Why We Exist
Join the East County resistance to the forces that seek to destroy our Republic, our Democracy, and our communities. We are always peaceful and family oriented as we stand up against a host of disturbing developments in our great Nation.
We are champions of human rights, civil rights, and the American dream in which people of all colors, education, religion, and political orientation can work hard and provide food, shelter and a future for their children. In an effort to achieve this dream we support rallies and marches, phone banking and canvassing neighborhoods to urge others to participate in our elections, helping and protecting our more vulnerable neighbors, and developing coalitions with other groups throughout our county, state, and nation to work together as one team.
Principle One
Constitutional Action
We specialize in peaceful, high-visibility mobilization to defend our civil liberties. When constitutional rights like due process, free speech, assembly, and a free press are threatened, we organize immediate grassroots rallies, marches, and public demonstrations. These actions pull those threats out of the shadows, putting them in full view of our neighbors, elected officials, and the media.
Every action is planned, permitted, and carried out with discipline, because our credibility is part of our power. We are peaceful by principle, not by convenience.
Principle Two
Local Sovereignty
National politics matter, but East County is where we live. We focus on the issues hitting our own homes, schools, and businesses — school board decisions, city council votes, county policy, and how local law enforcement treats our neighbors.
We believe change starts in the places we can actually walk to. That’s why we show up to city halls and school board meetings with the same energy and commitment we bring to a rally.
Principle Three
Radical Compassion
We don’t just protest; we provide. Our movement is rooted in a “neighbors-helping-neighbors” philosophy that supports our community’s most vulnerable, driving people to appointments when they’re afraid to go alone, sharing know-your-rights information, and connecting families to food, legal, and financial resources.
Compassion, for us, is not passive. It shows up, in person, again and again.
